People Magazine names her one of "Nashville's Hottest New Country Stars", while Ebony recognizes her as "The Storyteller", and one who is "Breaking the Sound Barriers" in music! Whatever the case, all can agree that Miko Marks is an artist in sync with the times. On the frontlines of change, Ms. Marks is blazing an unprecedented trail and ushering in a new generation!

Named "Best New Country Artist" by New Music Weekly, Miko's debut album, "Freeway Bound", also received honors as the "2007 Country Album of the Year", at The Independent Music Awards. Amongst the judges were country icons, Wynonna Judd, and Patti Loveless, of The Grand Ole Opry. Miko is the first and only African American woman in the history of country music to receive such high honors. Her newly released CD, "It Feels Good" is also gaining much acclaim.

Miko's first music video, "Mama", which featured a cameo by her friend, Grammy Award winner Erykah Badu, is a touching, self-penned, autobiographical song, and a fan favorite. "Mama" gained limited exposure on CMT, GAC, and VH-1. However, in 2008, Miko is back with hopes of greater exposure for her second video release, "Locked & Loaded". "Locked & Loaded" features a cameo by another friend and Grammy Award winner, D'Wayne Wiggins of Tony Toni Tone'. Marks is increasingly gaining great respect and admiration from some of the biggest names in music! One of her dreams is to collaborate with the legendary Stevie Wonder.

Originally from Flint, Michigan, Miko first discovered her vocal prowess at a young age, while her keen writing talents have continued to "develop & sharpen" with "maturity & life experience". Miko wrote 7 of the 10 cuts off her award winning debut Cd, "Freeway Bound", and contributed a couple more gems to her follow-up, "It Feels Good".

"The Storyteller", possesses a pure, powerhouse voice that shines crystalline without the help of studio gadgetry! Her influences cross the barriers of generation, genre and race, while it's said that her live performances can make believers out of the toughest critics.

Miko currently tours, coast to coast, with the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo. She's also performed for Major League Baseball and ESPN's Monday Night Football. She's done countless radio interviews, been featured on NPR, and local TV networks such as ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX. Now in 2008, and beyond, Miko Marks is ready for "prime time"! She looks forward to future meetings and national performance opportunities with Oprah, Ellen, Jay, David, Conan, and a host of others.

In legendary tradition, Miko Marks is making a way where there was "no way". It's not easy, but against great odds, by Grace and unmistakable talent, Miko Marks continues to soar, to fly higher."Onward & Upward"!
